Andrea Benson

Andrea Benson is a Health Science teacher at Sheyenne High School in the West Fargo Public Schools. She is passionate about working with children of all ages, to help them grow and develop to reach their full potential. Andrea has worked with children her whole career. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in nursing from Concordia College, Moorhead and began her career as a registered nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit. She then pursued a Master’s of Science degree in occupational therapy, working in direct pediatric therapy and early intervention. Andrea has always had a love for education and is excited to now have the opportunity to be sharing her medical knowledge and experiences with students in the classroom. In addition to teaching, Andrea works, as needed, in therapy and is pursuing another Master’s degree in educational leadership. In her free time Andrea loves to spend time with her husband and their three children.

Traci Tarnasky

Traci Tarnasky is the Health Sciences teacher and HOSA advisor for West Fargo High School.  She enjoys providing students with the opportunity to discover where their interests may lie in the medical field.  Her intention is to share her passion for the medical field by effectively educating the students and watching them cultivate their future aspirations.  As the HOSA advisor for future healthcare professionals, this substantiates her reason for working in the field of education. She has worked in the area of dietetics, and continue to maintain her and MN nursing licenses.  Traci has a Master’s degree in Nursing Education and a BS in dietetics.

Holly Strand-Rysgaard

Holly Strand-Rysgaard started the Health Sciences program five years ago.  She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Respiratory Care and is a Registered Respiratory Therapist with a specialty in Pediatrics.  She also holds a Master’s in Educational Leadership with Secondary principal credentials.  Mrs. Strand-Rysgaard is the current NDACTE President and also is one of the HOSA (Future Health Professionals) and Sheyenne Student Council advisors.   She believes that CTE isn’t the Vocational Education of the past and it is a great asset for any students to prepare them to be college, career, or military ready.  Many of the Health Science students use CTE as a stepping stone.  Mrs. Strand-Rysgaard is married to Trevor who is a Fargo Fire Fighter and they have 5 children ranging from 21 to 1.  They reside in West Fargo.

Allyson Tollefson

Allyson Tollefson is the Health Sciences, Medical Terminology, and Certified Nursing Assistant teacher at Fargo North High School. She graduated from NDSCS with her Associates of Applied Science degree and from NDSU with a Bachelor’s degree of Science. Allyson has been a nurse since 2012 and has spent most of her nursing career at Roger Maris Cancer Center in pediatrics and continues to work there over holidays and breaks. This will be her first year as a teacher and couldn’t be more excited to start this new adventure. She is very passionate about nursing and is eager to be able to teach my passion to students hoping to pursue an occupation in the medical field.  

In her spare time, Allyson loves to spend time with her husband and three children. She also enjoys playing volleyball throughout the year and softball during the summer.

Heidi Horne

Heidi Horne grew up in Fargo, ND and graduated from Oak Grove Lutheran High School. She attended Presentation College in Aberdeen, SD and obtained her BSN in Nursing in 2008. Heidi has worked at Sanford Hospital in Fargo for 14 years prior to starting her new position teaching Health Sciences with the Fargo Public Schools. She has 4 years of CNA experience in long term care and the hospital setting and 11 Years of RN experience floating between general, medical, surgical and critical care units. Heidi is married to her husband, Chris, and have a son, Collin and daughter, Mallory.
