Mitchell VanVleet

Mitchell Van Vleet is a Welding Instructor for the North Dakota State College of Science. His office and classes are at NDSCS-Fargo. He has a Welding Diplom and Associate Degree in Technical Studies from the North Dakota State College of Science. He is also a Certified Welding Inspector and Certified Welding Educator through the American Welding Society. He holds multiple Welding Certifications in many different processes. He has 18 years of industry experience in the field of welding and 13 years as a Welding Instructor. He does training through TrainND for the Welding Industry, on site and on campus, for many businesses in the Fargo/Moorhead area. He is the Skills USA Technical Chair for the NDSCS campus and sits on the North Dakota Skills USA board.

Course Descriptions:

Welding I
This course gives beginning instruction in laboratory safety and the use of personal protection equipment, with strong emphasis on the safe handling of welding and cutting equipment. It includes basic hands-on instruction on Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and Oxy-Fuel Cutting (OFC) on various thicknesses of metal and techniques used. Also covered are welding supplies and equipment. This course is also being offered as a dual credit through NDSCS. $75 per college credit and $35 activation fee if taking it for a dual credit.
